Rounding: What For?

When thinking about rounding to the nearest one or two decimal places, it helps to think about money. Rounding to the nearest 10 cents/pence is the same as rounding to 1 decimal place e.g. is 0.23$ nearer to 20 cents (0.2$) or 30cents (0.3$)? Rounding to the nearest cent/pence (times are tough!) is the same as rounding to 2 decimal places e.g. 0.256 $ is nearer to 26 cents than 25 cents.This last example is not a price...
