'A crystal clear sentence or two (max) that says what the activity is about'
The audience for these pages is students and teachers. This first paragraph introduces the activity in a language and tone appropriate for student readers. The 'Activity Index' page has teacher descriptions on it (there is also a more detailed description, targeting the teacher audience, at the bottom of this page). This first paragraph outlines to the student what should be available below and aims to bring the activity to life for the student.
The point of the image/video and text that may/often follows this opening paragraph is to offer a clear and quick overview of the activity. We often include videos/screencasts, images and text in varying combinations to engage the student and clarify what is required of them.
The first sentence/paragraph links to associated worksheets, applets and teachers notes (if there are any). Worksheets are offered in word format to allow the teacher to modify and adapt it according to the needs of their individual classes.
